The aim of our project is to help keep local youths off the streets and to give them something to focus their energies on by teaching them about the mechanical and body shop side of car maintenance.
Specifically, we want to get them using their imaginations to help us design and physically build a bespoke vehicle that we will be able to take to car shows as an example of the work we at KP Garage and Body Shop can produce.
We want the chosen group to be part of these events, so they have something to be proud of and can say they played a part in producing.
We plan to choose 10 local people between the age of 14-18 who can commit to the project at weekends. We are then going to ask them to come up with some ideas of what they would do to the vehicle to make it a one of a kind.
At the end of this we would like to help introduce the individuals into traineeships/apprenticeships either with ourselves or other garages in the future.
The car is completely stripped down now and ready to work on.
We are looking for businesses to help us sponsor and get involved with this process. In return for your support we will advertise the supporting business on the car itself, on our group t-shirts and in any advertising we do on social media our own website and at the shows its self along with banners in and around the workshop whilst we video the process.
We would like to start our first workshop on Saturday 13th January 2018 and from then on look at doing it most weekends. Ideally, we would like to have it ready to show at the Forge Action Day at Castle Combe on Saturday 8th September 2018.
If you are interested in getting involved, either as a participant or sponsor, please get in touch.
